"Little Sprout" My GO Green Party

If you have been following along then you may have read about the opportunity I had to be apart of Sparkling Event Designs first "Designers Challenge" party contest. The theme was "GO Green" and you could interpret it however you wish. The trick is, you must stay within a budget of $100, the party must be for 4-6 guests, include tablescaping, desserts, activity and a party favor.

The very first thing that popped into my head was a little sprout for either a baby shower, a first birthday...I had no clue. What I ended up doing was a "gender reveal" party. I love the thoughts of sharing with your closest friends what gender your baby is. There are different ways of doing this, but my favorite is having the doctor write the gender on a piece of paper and seal it up in an envelope for you to open infront of everyone. Some people do this and give the envelope to their baker who will make a cake for the party and fill the inside with either pink or blue filling. When you cut the cake at the party, this is your way of finding out. Cute right...oh I know just one more reason to throw a party! tee hee

Here is what I did...

{The Party}

The invitation had to have a catchy little rhyme of course.

The seating area and activity table in the background.

{Activities}

This table included note cards for guests to fill out with their own baby tips and tricks for the parents to be. Also on this table were recycled baby food jars filled with homemade sugar scrub for guests to add their own scent to and take home in my little Petal favor boxes as a gift. Recipe to come soon!

Vintage blocks and toys played a part in my decorating still keeping the guests guessing as to what this baby's gender would be. I absolutely lucked out that I had enough blocks to spell out "Lil Sprout", "boy" and "girl"...stranger that the letters for  "Sprout" were all GREEN!

To give my recycled baby food jars a little extra style I used Washi tape from Fancy That. I then spray painted all of the lids white and added a label to the top that could easily be removed when this scrub is being used. Otherwise it would just get messy.

{The Main Table}

Since this was an afternoon get together I served up fruit salsa and cinnamon chips, chocolate cupcakes with chocolate frosting that were then topped with crushed chocolate sandwich cookies to look like dirt.  The little fondant Sprouts were created by Lynlee of Lynlee's Petite Cakes. Seriously impressed with the work done by Lynlee, they really MADE these cupcakes!  I also served mini sugar cookies by Christina of Cookies are my Canvas. Absolutely adorable, decorated beautifully and just the right size for an afternoon treat!

For the drinks I served up strawberry lemonade with fresh strawberry pieces, super refreshing!

Another fabulous treat were the lime green and white striped straws from Fancy That. I hate when I am drinking lemonade with lots of ice or chunks of fruit and when you get to the bottom they all jump up at your face. Straws help prevent this certain splashing from happening. :)
Oh and don't you love that little bee trying to get in my fruit salsa....shooo bee don't bother me!
