"Guess Whooo" Gender Reveal {Real Parties}

Happy Monday! Today I wanted to share a cute Owl themed gender reveal party that was styled by Beth Beattie. I love contributing to Beth's beautiful party creations as they are so unique and ALWAYS gorgeous! For this party Beth asked me to create a "It's A Girl" bunting, which was then hung above the dessert table. Check out the photos below. 

Here is how Beth describes the party 

"Guests received a “Guess Whoo” custom invite with a vintage owl inspired theme. When guests arrived, they were greeted with mason jars of Pink Lemonade and pink spiral striped paper straws with an “It’s a Girl” flag by The Sugar Diva. The table décor included vintage bottles, owl statues and pink peonies in mason jars atop a burlap linen and pink napkins with twine and a hang tag that was a pattern from the invite. A baby photo of each girl was at their placesetting and the menu card was a pink version of the invitation. The dessert was in a tiered tray from Pottery Barn with owl cake pops bySouthern Belle’s Cakery and cupcakes by The Sugar Monkey. Other décor included “It’s A Girl” custom banner by PartyStarters, owl candles from Pier 1 Imports, vintage paper Baby Girl Blocks by Camafatis Crafts and potted plants from Pottery Barn."

Baby Shower Idea

Dawn here again, this time I am sharing something a little different with you. I am going to a baby shower soon and there was a request for books for the baby's library instead of cards. I thought this was a really great idea and hope you do too! Now, I am not sure what book to get for the little guy, there are so many choices out there. Do any of you have a suggestion of a book that everyone won't already be getting, something off the radar? I would appreciate any ideas.

12 Days of Christmas~ Day 4 {Stamped Candles}

Welcome back to our blog series the 12 Days of Christmas Crafts & Party Favors For Kids.  This craft is one that has been around for a long time. I first made these candles probably 4 years ago and thought they were such great inexpensive gifts. Now this craft is definitely one that is more for adults since you use a heat gun, but steps 1 & 2 are perfect for kids who are old enough to hold a stamp and slap it on paper.

Supplies you will need:
White candle (purchase a few smaller ones to practice the heating technique)
White tissue paper (used for wrapping gifts)
Rubber stamps of your choice
Stamp pad in your choice of color
Scissors
Heat Embossing gun

Step 1

Measure your candle and cut a piece of tissue paper to fit around your candle without overlapping. Make sure the height of your paper is approximtely 1" less then the base height of your candle. This will give you a half an inch border on the top and bottom.

Step 2

Stamp your image all over your tissue paper, either in a pattern or randomly. Aly used Stampin' UP!'s stamp set called Snow Swirled with the Ballet Blue Classic ink pad.

Step 3

Once you have finished stamping, lay your your tissue on the candle. Make sure to hold the paper firmly so that the air from the embossing gun doesn't blow it all over the place. Little by little in circular motions heat up the tissue so that the wax from the candle melts underneath and adheres to the tissue. I only do about a 1-2 inch vertical area at a time. MAKE SURE you pull your gun away every few seconds and don't leave it in one spot OR ELSE you will melt the candle too much and you will have weird waves or ripples on your candle. Another result of over heating would be scorching your tissue paper, don't want to do that either. TAKE YOUR TIME, it will so be worth it!!

Step 4

Move your way across the candle inch by inch and again please take your time...slow and steady win the race!!  I keep my candle on the table and roll it as I move along. This helps flatten out any wax that might be soft yet. Practice does make perfect, so by a few extra candles even if they are smaller versions to get the hang of it. Once you have it down you will want to make a million of these, they are addictive.

Step 5

You are FINISHED!! Once the candle has completely cooled you can hardly tell there is any paper on there at all.
Wrap these up in some cello with a pretty ribbon and give them away this holiday season! Heck if you are like me and own 50 million stamp sets, make these for any occasion!

• A giant birthday candle to help someone celebrate or as party favors!
• Every Holiday
• As a thank you gift stamped with flowers or leaves
• Make smaller versions as shower gifts with monograms stamped on them. 

The list could go on and on! Try them they are SO much fun!!

Sweet Pea Baby Shower {DIY}

A couple of weeks ago I was asked by the owner of Creative Cuts and More to design items that might be used for a baby shower and be part of their Baby & Bridal Shower Blog Hop. Of course I said yes! Creative Cuts and More offers a huge assortment of die cuts for the "Do It Yourself" crowd.
Before Party Starters I was a designer for Creative Cuts and More and took part in a lot of their blog hops, so this was a lot of fun... Just like riding a bicycle. 

I decided to create a "Sweet Pea" themed set, because it can be gender neutral, all boy or all girl. 

This is Creative Cuts and More's A2 Gate Fold Cresent card with band, & Baby Shoe

The vellum lamp shade die fits right on top of a wine glass to make a votive lamp.
I made some of these and shared them a while back for my girlfriends baby shower, they were a hit!

Inspiration Friday~ Lady Bugs

Out of all the bugs out there I think Ladybugs are about the only ones that don't creep me out. They are so bubbly and brightly colored...they have spunk! SO today I wanted to share some cute ladybug images to inspire those who are thinking about having a cute as a bug party!

First...hello check out this adorable cake from Pink Cake Box...so cute! I love all of the white with the pops of red, black and green. The big daisies and 3D ladybugs really give this cake character, don't you think?



I LOVE this really cute and easy decorating idea as seen on HWTM. Use bright red, yellow and green flowers then place paper lady bugs in with your arrangements. SO simple and soo cute!

 
Last, but certainly not least... my FAVORITE... the Ladybug collection by Tweedle Dee Designs . Together, Brandi and I  we combined her printables with my favor boxes!

It's like " hey, your printable is on my box", "no your box is on my printable" kind of good!
NOTE: For those of you who are younger then me and didn't get that whole spoof...its a take off of the old Reese's commercial, hey you got your peanut butter in my chocolate, no you got your chocolate in my peanut butter...anyway! LOL...eh hem, its been a long week...moving along

Brandi also has the rest of your party covered, with invitations, cupcake toppers, mini note cards, tags...you name it! All you have to do is print them and cut them out...super easy! You can find all of these items in Brandi's  Etsy Shop  and you can find all of my favors including DIY kits in my Etsy Shop!

Tasty Treats {Fabulous Cupcakes} & THE WINNER

With my daughter, Aly's birthday party a little over a week away I have been searching for different cupcake ideas. In my search I have come across some Fab-U-Lous cupcakes ALMOST too good to eat!

This first one makes my mouth all kinds of ga ga! I WANT to taste this cupcake...it is like the best of both desserts! A cupcake & a chocolate covered strawberry. I am also in awe of the wonderful lady who created this, Brandi from Tweedle Dee Designs. Not only is she crafty, but she can make some mean cupcakes!! Seriously isn't this gorgeous!! These would be amazing for a bridal or baby shower...or maybe my birthday. YUMMERS!!

Next cupcake, I absolutely adore! I am really tempted to try these out for Aly's party.  This stunning cupcake was created by Glorious Treats and at first I didn't realize there were cupcakes in the photo. Check out their blog, because they have a fabulous tutorial on how to create these beautiful blooming cupcakes!

While these last two cupcakes are in Aly's party color scheme, well there is just no way in the world I could ever create these. They make me want to cry they are so beautiful. I am a huge fan of Little Pink Cake Box's amazing confections. Not that I have ever tasted one, since I am on the other side of the country, but just to look at them...might be enough. Absolutely fabulous!

A Pink Ballerina Bear Baby Shower

I recently hosted a baby shower for a good friend who is having her first girl. I know when I found out after having two boys that I was about to have a girl everything needed to be pink, frilly and absolutely GIRLY! For this shower my friend had already chosen a pink and brown ballerina bear crib set, so I ran with that theme. Actually the bear on top of the cake goes with her crib set.


Here are just a few photos of the main centerpiece which was actually decorated 360 degrees, hard to tell in the photo. This is where all of the favors and prizes were displayed.

I had two games for the guests to play and the winners got to take home a tea light lamp and some pink stationary that was stamped with little flowers. The little Mary Jane booties were filled with pink, silver and red Hershey kisses and given out as each guest left the shower.


The menu was simple and instead of making little labels for each dish I printed out a menu and framed it in a white 4x6 picture frame. That way everyone knew what was being served and if it was spicy, which most guests appreciated!
This is what was served: Fried Ravioli with a cream tomato dipping sauce (made by my friends Mom...so delicious!), green leafy salad with a raspberry vinaigrette, wheat crackers with a spicy raspberry cream cheese dip, fresh fruit salad and jalapeno poppers. There were fun little dishes set around with Valentine M&M's (perfect colors for the shower) to make everything really bright and colorful. The beverages were pink lemonade, pink champagne and bottles of water which I did make special labels for, but forgot to get a picture of them...darn it!

I am happy to announce that my girlfriend as of last Friday has a beautiful baby girl, Amelia Violet. Welcome little one and congrats Chantelle, Josh and Noah!
